The Tourism Authority of Thailand in cooperation with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) yesterday conducted an activity to introduce travel routes designed for special needs citizens.

The Bangkok to Chon Buri route featured in a rally yesterday is 1 of 5 routes designed to allow the disabled and elderly to easily travel for leisure. The caravan, exploring the newly designed travel route had its first checkpoint at a PTT Petrol Station. It had a new line of toiletry facilities fully equipped to aid the disabled.

The TAT and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation have also compiled a handbook for special needs travelers to be attached with a map of the new routes. Each route on the map will have details including interesting locations, facilities, and ratings for special needs accommodation. TAT Board Chairman Weerasak Kowsurat said the special needs demographic of Thailand remained an untapped and unconsidered market to aid the economy and tourism industry.
