The Sangha Council resolved to seek cooperation from temples across the country to plant trees in an effort to increase green space and combat global warming.

Ms Jularat Boonyakorn, Director of the Office of National Buddhism, stated that a total of 35,616 temples throughout the nation had been assigned to plant at least 10 trees each per day. She said 350,000 additional trees would be grown in temple areas as earlier targeted by the council. Each temple would decide on what kind of trees to plant.

Ms Jularat added that the Provincial Offices of National Buddhism would request tree saplings from the Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office and would distribute them to local temples.
