DEP pushes international education to the next level

The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, is pushing Thailand to be Asia’s hub of international education services by hosting the Thailand International Education Exhibition.

“Asia’s hub of International Education”, is the theme of this year’s Thailand International Education Exhibition (TIEE 2009) and it is Thailand’s aim for the future as the government aims for the nation’s education to be the best in the region.
Director General of the DEP, Mr. Rachane Potjanasuntorn commented at the opening ceremony stating that Thailand, over the recent years, has undergone a rapid development in education services reaching standards recognized by both Thai and international institutions. This year’s TIEE aims to draw in more than 10,000 visitors.

A survey conducted in 2008 revealed that over 100,000 students, both Thai and international are attending international programs from kindergarten to doctoral degrees in Thailand. The survey also revealed that parents enrolling their children in Thailand helped the country save up to 50 billion baht in terms of foreign exchange.

The exhibition provides a wide range of educational services with over 200 booths representing famous institutions both Thai and foreign. Informative sessions and workshops are also available allowing participants to broaden their educational experience.

For those interested, the Thailand International Education Exhibition 2009 will be held until 11 October at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
