Phetchaburi to open ASEAN lane for 27 km during ASEAN Summit


The Commander of Phetchaburi Provincial Police revealed that for the coming ASEAN Summit, the 27 km ASEAN lane would be opened and warned people to avoid such roads while confirming that the local tourism remained normal.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Wirat Watcharakajon, the Commander of Phetchaburi Provincial Police said lane restrictions would be in place, with one lane reserved for country leaders, along stretches of road in the area. The ASEAN leader’s lane will be opened from 21-25 October 2009.

For the publick using such specified routes, drivers are required to register and obtain stickers at Hua Hin Vidyalai School and Cha Am Park. As for the one day return trip, tourists are not required to obtain the pass but they might face some inconveniences.

The Commander noted that there was no report of Red Shirt parties; besides, he had asked the core leaders of the Red Shirt not to create trouble in the area. He confirmed that the Cha Am beach and entertainment sites remained accessible as always.
