Thailand and Switzerland are preparing to collaborate on educational exchange programs with an emphasis on hotel and tourism, according to Education Minister, Jurin Laksanawisit.

The minister recently was scheduled to meet and discuss the issue with Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, Her Excellency Christine Schraner Burgener. He said both Thailand and Switzerland agreed to provide more exchange programs allowing students to transfer their credits in hotel and tourism related subjects while grade certification should be made by educational institutions of both countries.

Switzerland is very well known for studies of tourism and hotel while Thailand is moving forward to develop this service industry too. At present, there are 83 Thai students studying in Switzerland supported by scholarships. Most of them are taking courses related to hotel and tourism.

Mr Jurin further stated that the discussion also covered information and personnel exchanges between research institutes in Thailand and Switzerland. Switzerland is also a leading country for research investment.
