Gems and jewelry market to flourish in China next year



The Chinese market is anticipated to turn positive next year, while the gems and jewelry market will be positively affected, according to Phaichit Viboontanasarn, the commercial counsellor of Department of Export Promotion in Shanghai, China.

The commercial counselor in Shanghai viewed that an apparent improvement in the Chinese economy resulted from strong purchasing power which mainly helped the Chinese economy remain in a secure zone. He added that the gems and jewelry market would be prioritized for Chinese export, anticipating that the said products would be mass exported by next year.

According to this, the seminar will be organized at Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen in China with an intent to share business ideas among investors via business discussions and to promote Thai gems and jewelry products for the global acknowledgment through its fashion show.

Mr Phaichit stated that the ASEAN – China Free Trade Agreement would significantly help reduce export tax to 0% of Gems and jewelry products. Therefore, Thai jewelers must penetrate the Chinese market at haste. (NNT)
