International firework display competition to be held in December

The International Fireworks Contest Series in Honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen as well as to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2011 will be held at Muang Thong Thani in December.

The press conference yesterday chaired by the Minister of Defence, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan with the aims to flourish the country’s prosperity and to show the citizen’s gratitude toward Their Majesties’ benevolence. Gen Prawit believed this celebratory event would proceed successfully without any problems regarding security.

Permanent Secretary for Defence Gen Apichart Penkitti said the ongoing event would take place for two full years from December 2009 to December 2011. This year the event will be held at Muang Thong Thani Lake on 13 December, 14.00 hrs onward, with the fireworks displays presented by Germany, Japan and China.

Over 10 countries including Australia, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, United States as well as Italy show their interests in attending the event in August and December next year.

The final round will be held in December 2011. The winner country will receive the trophy granted by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The event features exhibitions in honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen and the low-price goods bazaar. The candle lit ceremony as well as the song Sadudee Maharacha – the well – known hymn to the Great King and the Thai Royal Anthem will be sung all together at the event. (NNT)
