Pali language can be found as the root of many other languages, especially in Asia. Amid the modernizing world and fear of language extinction, Pali is still widely used and taught in Buddhism via the Buddhist canon or Tripitaka and all chanting.

Naga Fireballs
Tourists have flocked to Khong Chiam district in the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani (See Ubon Ratchathani Hotels) to see the Naga Fireballs which are expected to rise from the Mekong River.
According to Tambon Huaypai Administrative Organization, thousands of tourists from Ubon Ratchathani (See Ubon Ratchathani Hotels) and other provinces have traveled to the tambon to see the unexplainable phenomenon. Roads have been renovated while parking spaces and audience stands have been arranged at different locations along the river to accommodate more than 10,000 tourists. Police and civil defense volunteers are recruited to ensure safety both on land and in the river. (More …)
Ethic Chinese in Phuket believe that Por Tor Kong is a God of Devil. During the seventh lunar month in the Chinese calendar, it is believed to be the period when spirits are released. The gates are opened and spirits releasedto wander or revisit homes.
This is the fresh market on Ranong Road under the Office of Phuket City.
Residents here held the Por Tor or Hungry Ghost festival to make merits & offerings to their ancestors. (More …)
Wat Pho (Thai: วัดโพธิ์) or Wat Phra Chetuphon (Thai: วัดพระเชตุพน)
Thailand will propose that the historic inscriptions and hermit statues teaching traditional Thai yoga at Wat Pra Chetupon Wimolmangalaram be included in the UNESCO Memory of the World (MOW) Programme in 2009.
At a meeting on Monday at the Bangkok temple, Prof. Maenmas Chavalit, chairperson of Thailand’s National Committee on the MOW Programme, said the knowledge inscribed on the walls and embodied in the ancient yoga postures at Wat Chetupon — more commonly known as Wat Pho — had universal value. Swan Boat Races
Teams compete for prizes in the 21st annual swan boat races at the Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Craft Centre, 19 to 20 September.
Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Centre, Ayutthaya province, is worth visiting any time of the year, but it has a special fascination for visitors in September, when the riverside complex hosts the annual international swan boat races.
Now in its 21st year, the dates were changed this year to 19 to 20 September moving back a week from its usual mid-month slot. But it still promises to be a tough, contested, series of races with nine international teams, mainly from around Asia, vying for the annual trophy. (More …)
This year the tourism industry of Thailand has been hurt by all sorts of bad publicity, causing tourists to lose confidence in traveling safely to Thailand. To counteract this false perception of Thailand, the TAT has launched “The Ultimate Thailand Explorers” event to create positive awareness of Thailand and inspiration for worldwide tourists to travel here, particularly through the use of the internet and web blogs, which influence tourists the most.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand therefore invites all interested parties to attend a press conference for “The Ultimate Thailand Explorers” project launch on Monday, September 14 from 14:00 to 16:00 in Lotus Suite 5-7, Centara Grand at Central World. This event is an exciting integrated online travel competition that will promote various Thailand destinations through various social and travel related websites.

Phanom Rung Historical Park
Tourists flock to the Phanom Rung Historical Park and the Mueang Tam Stone Sanctuary in Buri Ram Province, as the Preah Vihear Temple is temporarily closed.
During the five-day-long weekend covering the Commencement of the Buddhist Lent, an average of 5,000 tourists per day visit the Phanom Rung Historical Park and the Mueang Tam Stone Sanctuary in Buri Ram. Usually only 1,000 to 2,000 tourists per day are seen. Souvenir shops and food shops have been doing brisk business. Billions of baht is expected to circulate during the five-day long weekend.
