    Presents and cards for New Year are the most popular products sold at the Thailand Best Buy 2009 in the capital city of Bangkok.

    More than 2,000 entrepreneurs are displaying their products in the exhibition arranged under the theme “Blooming Happiness with Gift Fair to Welcome New Year Festival.” Most of the goods are offered with 50% discounts.     ASEAN National Secretariat is in cooperation with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to launch the last ASEAN event before passing the chairmanship to Vietnam on 1 January 2010.

    Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, Wittawat Sriwihok today chaired a press conference on the launch of ASEAN Music and Culture Festival in a bid to promote the unity among 10 ASEAN countries via each country’s remarkable cultures and music.     Thai tourism entrepreneurs to join World Travel Market 2009 

    More than 120 Tourism entrepreneurs will join the World Travel Market (WTM 2009) to present tourism products globally from 9 to 12 November 2009 at Excel Exhibition Center in London, Great Britain.

    The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) led by the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Chumpol Silpa-archa, Chairman of TAT Wichai Srikwan, Acting Governor of TAT Ms Pensuda Priaram, and the entourage from TAT and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will invite more than 120 Thai tourism entrepreneurs from both private and public sectors to participate in the global tourism event, named “World Travel Market 2009 (WTM2009) during 9-12 November 2009 at Excel Exhibition Centre in London, Great Britain.     Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau to organize “Thailand Creative Event Awards” in response to MICE market recovery 

    The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is to organize the Thailand Creative Event Awards to highlight its unique selling point for competing with MICE markets abroad in response to the global economic recovery.

    Malinee Kitaphanich, Director of Meetings & Incentives of TCEB revealed that the TCEB would be arranged in response with the creative economy, initiated by the government. The TCEB, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), public sector and the private sector is planning to hold the “Thailand Creative Event Awards” to select the most talented event organizers from all over Thailand.     DEP pushes international education to the next level 

    The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, is pushing Thailand to be Asia’s hub of international education services by hosting the Thailand International Education Exhibition.

    As part of the annual French cultural festival, La Fête 2009, a visionary French artist and photographer visited Thailand for his first exhibition in the kingdom. Having developed powerful work by blending painting, drawing, sculpture and architecture since the 1980s, he transforms deserted spaces before they are destroyed.

    Inspired by abandoned spaces, Georges Rousse has created his works of image to look like overlays of colour. Each photo is only viewable in its intended and precise focus. (More …)

    Entre Terre et Mer art exhibition 


    Sylvain Chopard, who is superintendant at the Embassy of France in Thailand and was formerly in the French navy, is a self-taught artist who draws inspiration from nature and the sea. His technique is akin to impressionism and close to the styles of Paul Gauguin, Claude Monet and Chaim Soutine. He will be exhibiting 35 paintings at the Alliance française’s Media Library during August and September.

    The Prestissimo” team

    A group of Thai animation developers has focused the world animation and multimedia spotlight on Thailand by beating nine other teams to win the world’s largest animation and multimedia competition.

    Called the “International Animation Contest: FJORG 2009“, the competition was held at SIGGRAPH 2009, the world largest International conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques, in the United States early this month. (More …)
