    Venue : River Kwai Bridge, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi

    Each year in late November to early December, the world famous River Kwai Bridge built by Allied prisoners-of-war during World War II, becomes the focal point of celebrations.

    Event highlights include historical and archaeological exhibits, a carnival, folk and cultural performances, rides on World War II vintage trains, and a spectacular light and sound presentation re-enacting the bridge’s World War II legacy.

    Watch the light-and-sound show in remembrance of the bridge and the construction of the “Death Railway” during World War II

    (There are 4 sets of headphones available in English, Japanese, Chinese and German). A wealth of entertainment and Exhibitions are on display. (TAT)

    Kanchanaburi prepares for River Khwae Week

    Kanchanaburi Province in the West prepares to celebrate the annual River Khwae Week.

    Highlights of the event include historical and archaeological exhibits, a carnival, folk and cultural performances, rides on World War II vintage trains and light and sound presentations to reenact the bridge’s World War II experience.

    A light and sound show will commemorate the historical bridge and the “Death Railway” construction. Headphones will be available for narrations in English, Japanese, Chinese and German.

    Thamkrabok Monastery gives drug addicts their life back

    Located about 140 kilometres north of Bangkok, the renowned Thamkrabok Monastery Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in the central province of Saraburi has for decades been providing a herbal detoxification answer to drug addicted locals and foreigners alike.

    This cheerful music is to give moral support to those going through drug rehabilitation at Thamkrabok Monastery. The detoxification is not only for Thais; but around 100 foreigners, of whom 80 per cent are British and German, also flock to the centre every year to get treatment.

    Brian from Ireland came to Thailand with five of his friends for treatment. He said he knew of the centre through a radio show and an anti-drug network in his home country. (More …)
