    International firework display competition to be held in December 

    The International Fireworks Contest Series in Honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen as well as to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2011 will be held at Muang Thong Thani in December.

    The press conference yesterday chaired by the Minister of Defence, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan with the aims to flourish the country’s prosperity and to show the citizen’s gratitude toward Their Majesties’ benevolence. Gen Prawit believed this celebratory event would proceed successfully without any problems regarding security.

    Permanent Secretary for Defence Gen Apichart Penkitti said the ongoing event would take place for two full years from December 2009 to December 2011. This year the event will be held at Muang Thong Thani Lake on 13 December, 14.00 hrs onward, with the fireworks displays presented by Germany, Japan and China. (More …)

    Nadal withdraws from 2009 Thailand Open

    World’s number two tennis player Rafael Nadal has abruptly withdrawn from the 2009 PTT Thailand Open due to an acute injury of his right abdominal muscle.

    According to Thailand Lawn Tennis Association President Suwat Liptapanlop, Mr Nadal has submitted a medical certificate to 2009 PTT Thailand Open tournament organizers. The seven-centimeter muscle rupture of the Spanish tennis player is confirmed by ultrasound and requires a rest period of two weeks. (More …)

    Bif! Bil! Kapow! leather and fashion show

    It sounds like the soundtrack to the old Batman TV series, but it’s the year’s best leather and fashion show, starting on Thursday

    The strength of Thailand’s fashion and leather industry will be on view Thursday through Sunday at the good old Bif and Bil – the Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair.

    And running in conjunction with the event in the Challenger halls of Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani will be a “Fashion Full Stop” show by Asean Fashion Plus, with contributions from all 10 Southeast Asian countries. (More …)
