    Solidarity important to AEC

    In order to have strong economic ties like the European Union (EU), ASEAN requires solidity among member states to overcome disparities and to build a single market and production base, according to a former member of the European Parliament.

    Dr Christoph Konrad, former Member of the European Parliament and designated Secretary-General to the SME Union of the European’s People Party, said that solidarity was the headline of the integration process in the EU.

    Solidarity was a good investment for the future of both the country itself and the region. “No matter how big a country is, richer countries always pay for poorer countries. We all know that if our neighbor country is successful, then we are too”, Dr Konrad said.

    However, before lending a hand to other countries, each country should check their own strengths and weaknesses to ensure sustainable development.

    Dr Konrad said that the ASEAN could take the EU as an example for its patience. The EU has taken over 50 years to build a single market and community. (More …)

    The 3rd Food Festrival and SME Market by Thailand Post starts today

    Thailand Post invited citizens to the 3rd Food Festival and SME market which starts today until 4 December 2009.

    Mrs Parisa Pananond, Corporate and Marketing Communications Manager of Thailand Post, said the project had been launched in cooperation with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion and the Ministry of Industry in a bid to distribute income within the community as well as promoting the SME business’s market strategies.

    A number of food stands from across the country have been set up at the event as well as other SME booths and other consumer products. All products have been certified by the Thai Industrial Standard Institute (TISI) Ministry of Industry and can be ordered by post.

    Visitor can directly purchase quality products at the Thailand Post Changwattana office from today until 4 December 2009. (NNT)

    SME BANK stays on right track on loan provision 

    The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Bank) approved over 33.6 billion THB worth of loans during the past 10 months, nearly doubling the amount released last year.

    SME Bank spokesperson Wichaya Witheethum said that the 10-month figure was 99.96% higher than that approved in the same period of last year. The loans had benefited 7,282 entrepreneurs, complementing the government policy to provide urgent assistance to major industries of the country. (More …)
