    THAI to send rice to help Haitian quake victims 

    Haitian quake

    National airline Thai Airways International (THAI) will start transporting the first batch of 100 tonnes of rice to earthquake-hit Haiti on February 1, Thai Airways President Piyasvasti Amranand announced.

    The company will arrange a special flight to carry Thai rice donated by the Thai government to the Dominican Republic where a United Nations (UN) centre has been set up to gather aid supplies and donations for earthquake victims. (More …)

    Lao Airlines ready for SEA Games services

    The Lao Airlines is now ready to offer a very good service to local visitors and foreign tourists, especially athletes and their cheer-leaders, who will come to the 25th SEA Games which are scheduled in Laos on 9-18 December.

    Mr. Sengpaseuth Mathouchanh, Vice Chairman of the Lao Airlines – the national carrier, disclosed last week that the Lao Airlines which lies in the air transportation sub-committee has set up sub committee to take care of athletes on their arrival at the airport.The athletes who arrive with foreign airlines at Vientiane’s Wattay International Airport will be under the care of the Ljets company, said Mr. Sengpaseuth.     Day-long train trips from Bangkok to tourist destinations

    The State Railway of  Thailand (SRT) has teamed up with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and related agencies to offer economical day-long train trips from Bangkok to tourist destinations in three neighbouring provinces over the next three months.

    On August 15, 22 and 29, there will be special trains departing Bangkok taking travellers to Chachoengsao and back the same days; on September 5, 12, 19 and 26, similar service is available to Saraburi; and to Lop Buri on October 3, 10, 14, 24 and 31.

    Tickets, priced at 999 baht per person on all routes, cover train travel by third class, food, transportation, tour guide, insurance fees and admission to various attractions on the itinerary. (More …)
